Germany, Knife Attack on regional train to Hamburg

A man with a knife attacked passengers on a regional train bound for Hamburg and Kiel, causing nine victims: two dead and seven injured. The alleged killer is a man of Syrian origin aged between 20 and 30 years. The attacker was already known for violent and sexual offences.

According to an initial reconstruction of the incident provided by the police, the man attacked the passengers shortly before 3 pm, before the train arrived at the Brokstedt Station in the Schleswig-Holstein region. The agents who intervened upon arrival at the station of the small town, about 60 kilometers north of Hamburg, arrested the assailant, who, having been slightly injured in the hands, was transported to the hospital in Neumünster, and is under police surveillance.
