Taha Abdurrahman, a Moroccan philosopher, moderated a conference on "universal justice and depositarism" at the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco in 2019. He emphasized the role of human beings as depositaries of a mission to promote good deeds in the world. He highlighted the importance of spiritual renewal, moral value, and the ethical dimension of human rights. His goal is to promote an original Muslim philosophy that modernizes thinking and addresses contemporary challenges.

Then, I had the certainty that man's perfectibility does not come from his material goods, nor from his knowledge; but from his moral qualities. It is, from this certainty that I was able to formulate three postulates on which I have founded a moral philosophy. According to the first postulate, it is ethics that defines man's identity; knowing that this identity is neither fixed nor uniform; on the contrary, it expands and decreases according to the moral qualities that man possesses. Identity is therefore proportional to ethics. The second postulate states that ethics cannot be reduced to a certain number of values or to a series of specific acts; far from it. It hence encompasses all aspects of human experience, apparent or hidden, easy or difficult. According to the third postulate, as legal statutes in Islam aim to honor man, they are fundamentally built on ethics. Consequently, reducing the application of any legal statute to its legal content without concern for the moral value that corresponds to it, certainly harms the purpose of that statute.
