Mahsa Amini was arrested in Tehran on September 13, 2022 by the Religious Police for failing to comply with the veil obligation law in force since 1981, then amended in 1983, for all women in Iran, Iranians and foreigners. After being arrested for wearing the hijab the wrong way, she was taken to the police station and later on September 16th 2022, after three days in a coma, she died under suspicious circumstances. This event sparked public outrage.

After the death of the young Iranian girl, several protests have erupted in Iran. Amnesty International, a human rights NGO, has called for an investigation into the incident. The decentralized anonymous Movement has cut communications between several Iranian institutional sites as a symbol of support for the protests.
In Iran, death sentences are passed, protesters are executed. 15,000 people have been arrested, and many are living in fear. The European institutions are close to the Iranian people who demonstrate violated rights such as discrimination against women. Iranians protest against despotism and tyranny of the regime. Currently the people are maintaining their firm position, without backing down against the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
