Ikram Jarmouni, the student from Modena who last Monday went to the Chamber of Deputies to receive the "Youth America Award for university talent", was verbally attacked with racist insults on the train that took her to capital with a friend. The girl posted the video on Instagram.
“On Monday, May 8, I was awarded as an Italian student of excellence in Parliament – writes Ikram – On the same day, while I was on the train to Rome, I was attacked, insulted and threatened with death for my skin color. Neither the police nor the train conductor intervened despite having urgently called both. No attempt at identification has been made. He could potentially be armed. This could have been a massacre. This is Italy".
Ikram, 22 years old, was born in Modena to Moroccan parents and she is a human rights activist. She study Human Rights and Multilevel Governance at the University of Padua. Her commitment was recognized with a lot of awards in the Chamber. However, her joy was "tainted" by the hateful aggression.
